Overview
As the Lead UX/UI Designer for Dreamtter, I led the charge on a complete overhaul of an existing AI productivity app. My goal was clear: transform it into a "dreamy and mystic" experience, moving from a flat design to a vibrant neon glow. This wasn't just about looks; it was about integrating powerful new AI features to truly help people achieve their dreams. Our agile team, with three designers, four developers, and a client PM, tackled this in 5 intense sprints over 6 weeks for our Romanian client.
The Big Shift: From Bland to Bold
My main challenge was making Dreamtter feel like a magical journey, not just another app. The client's desire for a neon glow design was a huge change, pushing me to dive deep into research and quickly master this new visual style. My job was to weave the new brand guidelines, project roadmap, and features seamlessly into every design choice.

Forging a New Aesthetic: The Neon Transformation
My first major task was to completely redefine Dreamtter's visual identity. The client wanted a "dreamy and mystic" feel, a far cry from the existing flat design. This meant shifting to a neon glow aesthetic – a style I initially had to research extensively and quickly learn to master. I dived into the creative exploration, ensuring every design element, from the typography and color palettes to the smooth background animations and haptic feedback, contributed to this magical new look. This wasn't just a surface-level change; it was about building an emotional connection that made users feel truly immersed in their journey.
Mapping the Journey: Using FigJam, I meticulously mapped out complex user flows. This ensured every interaction, from creating a dream to chatting with the AI Sensei, felt logical and easy.
Personalizing the Start: I designed the Initial Survey, a simple, one-question-per-page onboarding that kicks off right after signup. This was crucial for personalizing the app experience by understanding user demographics and dream types, directly answering, "How might we tailor the experience for users?"
Guiding New Users: I created the interactive Onboarding Flow. By using a dark overlay to highlight specific parts of the screen, I made sure users quickly grasped the app's main features, solving, "How might we guide users through the key features...?"
Revamping the Home Screen: I led the redesign of the Home Page, turning it into a visually engaging hub. It now gives users a comprehensive overview of their dreams, habits, and progress at a glance, a huge step up from its previous, less engaging version.
Crafting the Dream Creation: A major part of my role was re-engineering the Dream Management and Creation flow. I designed a flexible system with "Fast Path" and "Guided Path" options. This included integrating AI to generate tasks, habits, and even vision boards, all leading to a personalized "Pledge & Seal" ritual. The goal was to make this complex process feel natural and inspiring.
Building the AI Companion: I was key in designing the AI Sensei interface. I made sure it felt like a real, personalized chat. Users can choose their Sensei's voice tone (like "motivator" or "poet") and how they prefer to be motivated, making the AI truly their own.
Fostering Accountability: I also contributed to the Habit Tracker and Mentorship System designs. I focused on making it easy for users to track personal habits and connect with "soul supports" who offer encouragement.
Boosting Focus: I designed the Focus Mode, which uses a calming Lottie animation and removes distractions. This helps users concentrate on their tasks, directly addressing their need to eliminate distractions.
Outcome & What I Learned
This project was a fantastic challenge, demanding quick thinking and creative solutions, especially with the radical shift to neon. I gained valuable experience in a niche design style and in seamlessly integrating advanced AI features into a user-friendly mobile app. Development is ongoing, but I'm confident my work on Dreamtter's intuitive flows, personalized experiences, and captivating visuals will drive strong user engagement and retention. This project truly showcases my ability to lead design from concept to delivery, creating impactful solutions in a fast-paced environment.
